Who we are...
Keryx is a lay-led, non-profit, interdenominational, Christian ministry using the Cursillo method, designed to be conducted in any correctional institution without substantive change in format or procedure.
The purpose of Keryx Ministries is the Christianization of the correctional institution or community through the actions of small apostolic prayer support groups , trained and encouraged by Keryx volunteers, working within their environment.
Through a systematic, structured program, the participants are given the opportunity to experience a religious renewal and to accept God’s call to a life of Christian witness and service to one another .
The Keryx strategy is to identify leaders who have the greatest potential to impact their environments with the message of Christ’s love. These leaders are then invited to attend a 3-day short course in Christianity where they are introduced to the Keryx community.
Keryx has been called the most effective program at changing basic attitudes of the incarcerated currently offered in prisons. This statement is heard over and over again by prison administrators where the ministry has been active long enough for its impact on the institution to have been evaluated by correctional staff.
Keryx is a highly structured program that promotes solid Christian life-skills. The program builds a positive and loving. Keryx calls upon a spirituality that has long been dormant in many of the resident leaders within the institution.
Keryx works from a decidedly strong Christian perspective of love for fellow man, but participants need not be Christian to attend.
In today’s world, where polarization of races, cliques, ethnic and political groups has become so pervasive in our environments, the Keryx program has proven to be an effective instrument for breaking down mistrust and animosity.

What we believe...
1. We believe that there is one God, eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent God who created all things and is sovereign over all. His sovereignty is seen in acts of creation, salvation, and continual care. (I John 5:7, Genesis 3:22, Psalm 2:7-8, Psalm 110:1)
2. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and infallible authoritative Word of God and the authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21)
3. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atonement for our sins by His death on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Isaiah 7:14, John 1:1, John 1:14, John 8:58, Romans 4:25, II Corinthians 5:21, Titus 2:13)
4. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are born again (justified) on the grounds of His shed blood and resurrection. (Romans 4:25, II Corinthians 5:21, John 14:6, Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 10:9-10)
5. We believe that the Holy Spirit acts in and through people's lives today in the spiritual unity of believers. (John 16:8,1 John 2:27, Acts 13:2, Romans 5:5, 8:9, 8:26, Galatians 4:6)
6. We believe that mankind was created in the image of God. Mankind chose to disobey God and sinned, thereby incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death, which brings separation from God (Genesis 1:27, 2:17, 3:6, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23).
7. We believe that God creates each person as male or female. These two distinct genders reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. (Genesis 1:26-27)
8. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the union of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union as delineated in scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that intimate sexual activity be engaged only within the context of marriage. (Genesis 2:18-25, I Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5, Hebrews 13:4)
